Bobble Day – Friday 10th February
Where wool you wear yours?? We're asking the local people to support our annual Bobble Day on Friday 10th February by wearing their favourite woolly jumper to work or school and pinning our iconic bobble to it. Bobble's can be purchased in Wilkinsons stores or any Age UK shop from the end of January, and all money raised will be used locally to help older people stay safe and warm during the cold winter months. If you would like to get involved or have some brilliant Bobbling ideas please contact Beckie on 01706 712515.

Age Concern Metro Rochdale is changing its name to Age UK Rochdale. You will probably be aware of the coming together last year of Age Concern England and Help the Aged. The charity’s new name is Age UK England, and we have now taken the step of becoming a brand partner and taking on the new name. This will not change our goals and ideals as a local charity, we still aim to improve the lives of local older people, and raise awareness of the issues facing them. But over the next few weeks and months there will be changes in the signage of our offices and café, as well as some changes to this website.

Why not try your hand at Brain Training as part of a BBC and Alzheimer’s Society national research trial.
The trial is open to anyone over the age of 18, although Alzheimer’s Society is particularly interested in recruiting people over 60. These people will help answer important questions about whether Brain Training could help improve or stabilize brain function in older adults. This will inform research and development of potential treatments in the future. It is hoped that the trial will begin to show whether Brain Training might be developed as a preventative treatment against the onset of dementia. Follow the link below to get involved.
